In the Dark

by GOLDLlNK

A woman jumped onto the ground from a ledge and ran through the caves. It was

very dark in The Underneath. She ran as fast as she could until she tripped

over a rock. She hit the ground and moaned in pain. Ulk tried to get up, but

she was badly injured. "You'll never get away now!" a voice echoed through

the caves. From this, Ulk forced herself to stand up. Limping, she entered a

large crack in the caves. The ground was shaking roughly as she came to a

giant room in the caves. Mushroom towers stood tall surrounded by water.

Everything could be seen without a source of light. Ulk jumped on a raft and

sailed to the mushroom towers. She kept looking back at the crack, as if

something was after her. When she landed at a tower, Ulk got out and entered

the tower.

There were many Magi in the tower. Stairs made of mushroom twisted around and

around to the peak of the humongous tower. Not only were there stairs, but

vines that held upside down mushrooms that could go up and down. "Ulk!" cried

a voice. "What has happened?" Ulk looked up at Fossik. "Something is coming."

Fossik looked at her in a strange way. "What do you mean?"

Ulk sighed. "Something is coming for us all!" she boomed. Almost everyone

looked at her. There were no sounds. There was no breathing. Fossik turned to

her. "Ulk," he said, "come with me."

Fossik and Ulk took an upside down mushroom trip up to the top of the tower.

They walked down a tube with holes for windows across to another mushroom

tower. This mushroom tower was even larger. They came to a stop at a large

door. "Wait here," Fossik whispered, talking to Ulk. She nodded, and Fossik

walked out of sight. This room had no windows. Ulk closed her eyes and tried

to avoid the pain, but the pain was very strong. Ulk was running very fast

and tripped. She had flown way up into the air and slammed into the ground

very badly, injuring her left leg and arm.

The large doors opened, and an old woman walked towards Ulk with Fossik at

her side. "What is troubling you my dear?" she said. "Motash," Ulk said,

"something is coming for us, from the caves. I heard noises getting closer,

and soon heard a voice echo through the caves. I couldn't see who it was

because I forgot my Brub."

Motash smiled. "Don't be afraid." But Ulk wasn't afraid. She was terrified.

Ulk didn't want to admit it, but the voice sounded so evil, she had to tell

Motash. "Motash," she started, " I am afraid that someone is going to hurt us

all. The voice was very low and evil."

"It was?" Motash asked.

Ulk nodded. Motash sighed. "Then we must call the Magi warriors."

Why?" Ulk asked. Motash looked into her eyes. "Because soon we will be

trapped in the dark."
