Since there are a lot of hyrens I decided to write an article about them ALL. Wow this is going to be long.
Lightning Hyren
Going to start with him cause he's a cool hyren and I'm going in alphabetical order. This is not one of the best hyren maybe even one of the worst. Humm... five starting energy is okay. His power is not great at all, you get to remove one energy from every creature. Overall this guy is not great, but he's pretty cool looking.
Thunder Hyren
This one is better than Lightning but still not the best. You get to remove 2 energy from all non Arderial creatures, this can be very effective in multiplayer games but not as great in 1v1 unless the opponent has a lot of creatures. His other power is not good unless your playing more than 3 different Hyren in your deck and you have some out. A good 7 energy is good for pounding some creatures. This guys okay play him if you have a good Arderial deck but he's not that useful in multi region decks.
Flame Hyren
This guy's cool. Get another creature out and you can have a 10+ creature out for some pounding. Even alone he can do some pounding with 9 energy. Darren at Magi-Palace has a cool strategy for these guys and Ormagon. If you have staff of Hyren out play Flame Hyren and an Ormagon and use Energy Transfer to Ormagon. Ormagon now has 20 energy on it!!! If there are any creatures use Destruct and wipe them clear and attack the magi. So this guy is pretty good but can be situational.
Magma Hyren
I like this one. Only down side to this one is he's rare :(. Fireball is not that useful but Healing Flame is. As said in the Magma Hyren article two of these can pump each other up with this power, maybe not very fast but... his 3 starting is not that good but you can get 6 out of it if you have another creature. If you used Ancestral Flute with this guy you could get 3 of them out and have them pump each other up which is a fairly good strategy.
Leaf Hyren
This one is a lot like Flame with less energy. Four starting won't do much beat down but if you add it to another creature that creature might become very formidable. Flame hyren or Cave Hyren would be better choices.
Timber Hyren
Fattie with a good supplie of energy in reserve on your magi. This guy is a loner beat down. You can take 5 energy from your magi and add it to him right off and you can do it every turn after. This guy can be pumped up to 17 energy when he attacks. To bad you have to take the energy from your magi otherwise this guy wouldn't be such a loner. Hmm... with robe of vines and staff of hyren out this guy can kick. Overall this guy is pretty awsome compared to his partner in region leaf hyren :p.
Coral Hyren
This guy can be awsome in a spell heavy deck which Orothe is known for. Using Will of Orothe with this guy. One energy for playing it and you can keep the other guys from attacking him so that you can play more spells. With submerge you can add 4 energy to him for 2 bringing him up to 8 really fast. His starting is only 4 so you should stall as long as you can and play as many spells as you can. To bad it can only get energy off of Orothe spells or this guy would probably be good in a Naroom deck with all those spells that add energy. I have never personaly got this guy to work before(maybe that's cause I haven't used him much) but people I talk to say he's pretty good.
Deep Hyren
This guy is pretty awsome too. Three energy off of every creature can be devastating especialy if your opponent is playing a Hoard deck. You do have to discard one of your creatures in play and it does take all the starting energy from Deep hyren so you can be left defensless. A good strategy that was given to me by Ho11ywood is to play wellisk and deep hyren, allow your opponent to play a bunch of small creatures and then use Hurricane to wipe them all clear. Pretty good IMO. I like this guy a lot because he is the only thing that got me into magi-nation. You see I really like dragons and Deep Hyren looks a lot like a spify looking dragon, well if you only see the top half, so naturaly he caght my eye when I was looking at the add in Nintendo Power. Ok enough about my personal life. I love this guy ^_^.
Cave Hyren
This guy is a lot like mr. Leaf hyren but with one more energy. He would be OK if he wasn't a rare :-(. Transfer the energy right away. Don't let him sit there and go to waste like my brother likes to do. This guy looks pretty cool too because he's one of the two hyren that stand on al fours :).
